The federal government already indexes its pay rates for workers. There’s a base pay rate for a position which then has an increase if the position is in a higher cost of living area, and the increase is then indexed for that particular area. It could be done with minimum wage too.

It appears to be a misdemeanor in Maryland too. MD Bus Occ & Prof Code §§10-601 & 606 appear to criminalize it. But I’m not admitted in Maryland, so I can’t say for certain.

Marrying a citizen doesn’t make you one. It’s supposed to be a factor in obtaining a green card though.

IIRC, Dubya proposed some sort of immigration reform which gave a path for citizenship to the people we refer to as DACA recipients, but it was killed by a revolt in his own party. All without demanding a wall.

Most Dems don’t want fully open borders. They want a solution for people who were brought over as kids and reforms to the worse parts of our current system. Your dichotomy is basically “if I had to choose between the Nazis and those who want to help people in a legally precarious position, I side with the racists!”

They fucking did that. About a year ago they offered $25b for his wall in exchange for statutory protection for DACA recipients. He said he would fucking veto it, so the Republican backers (as this plan was bipartisan) chickened out and stopped supporting it.
