Why get an Xbox if you have a PC that can play their exclusives?
Why get an Xbox if you have a PC that can play their exclusives?
Reason number 256034 I won’t be buying an Xbox:
It really feels like Epic is arguing a different case here. How is Apple being a monopoly relevant to having their app removed? They make good points, but it doesn’t really seem related to their actual case.
“Epic wants to utilize its own competing services, for its own apps and for others.”
I mean, Destiny is repetitive gameplay, too. Do you like shooting aliens, because holy shit do you fight a lot of aliens. But Destiny is hugely successful and can be a real blast, even in single-player (sometimes).
Is this really a surprise, though? The XBox is unique among consoles in that is is backwards compatible with more than just the previous generation (yes, I know of the PS3 at launch; it isn’t now). Every other console that I can think of that offered backwards compatibility limits to one generation back.
Some people who don’t own a PS4 are waiting for the PS5 to play PS4 games. So no, don’t delay. Launch titles are meaningless these days.
Truthfully, it’s -very- uncommon for next-gen consoles to have titles that really -sell- the hardware and make clear that it’s worth upgrading at the start.
A reminder for those who are upset is that this is just Capitalism being Capitalism.
Capitalism wants all the money in the world, and you don’t get all the money in the world if you don’t do business with—and in—China. So if you want to be a good Capitalist and not let billions of dollars sit on the table so that your…
They didn’t pancake him. He wasn’t run over. There’s footage of the event. The guy got out of the way of the tank before it ran him over. But the enduring image is a lot more powerful.
I don’t know why everyone is so upset about footage of an event that clearly didn’t happen.
Fuck the CCP
Kotaku has lost a lot of the writers who would do more “real journalism.” I don’t mean that to demean blogging or the writers here now, just that Jason, Heather, Cecelia, Gita, and others would often post stories with sources that did deep dives into a topic. Journalism, not blogging.
And when Ellen looked down, there was only one set of footprints.
We all lie in the bed we make, but sometimes that bed is a road. And so instead we end up walking where we sleep. But if we don’t like where we are going, its time to have a different dream. For Ellen, its time for her to wake up, into a new dream, where she can lie down, and walk her own path.
Whoa whoa WHOA. Hold that telegram. You mean companies are in business to make money and make decisions as such?!
Came down to the comments to say exactly this. I figured the commercial was just going to be a clever jab until the writing came up at the end and I out-loud said “Oh, go FUCK yourselves.”
I’m not big on Epic but thought it was a positive for them to challenge Apple this way. However the video statement/trailer or whatever the hell that is really soured my opinion on the situation. That they had a lawsuit prepared for the inevitable retaliation from Apple was a prudent step (though I question what legal…
So, there’s this scene in The Two Towers where the orcs begin murdering each other over whether to eat the Hobbits alive or bring them to Saruman, who will torture them to death.
