As you just described, it sounds like Bungie hasn’t decided which direction to take Destiny as a franchise. D1 was a game geared towards those with dedicated time, and D2 is geared towards those will less time. I don’t think you can have both - so Bungie needs to be just double down on whatever side they are taking…

It baffles me that vanilla D1 had Heroic Strikes on day one. Then after years of community feedback, Bungie improved Strikes over time with exclusive loot, scoring and buffs. Three years later the sequel arrives with no Heroic Strikes; only to have them come back behind a DLC paywall- without any of the previous…

I fully expect an article by Jason about the internal struggles at Bungie.

Something has to be happening internally for Bungie to keep making basic mistakes after having just spent 3 years years prior learning from them. You’d think a sequel would launch without repeating history...
