I haven't watched any of the videos, but I read through the main kickstarter info and they only say it the once, and that's mostly in passing. Other than that, they refer to you as a bystander:

It's better than calling the game "random citizen" or "average joe" and it gets the meaning across quite well.

The character isn't the "fabled hero" they aren't the person that saves the world or the chosen one, they're a random person (like an NPC) that has to deal with all the shit that the fabled hero brings to…

What I'd like (and please rec me games if there are any like this), is an RPG style game (in the same vein as TES or Fable or Zelda) where you play as an historian or archaeologist trying to preserve the history of the land/s that are being explored.

The possibility of Termina and Lorule being the same place, just at different times.
