Well, they are kind of goat-like. And, well, Outland may not be space, but it is another world from which they come, and the Twisted Nether is probably the closest we'll get to Space in Warcraft.

I didn't come up with it, I just use it. Heck, I play as one of them Space Goats. It's just a semi-accurate descriptor.

My main character is a Draenei Hunter, so I enjoy the race a lot too. They just remind me (and apparently a lot of others) of blue, humanoid space goats.

According to developers at, I can't remember where, they completely forgot about Gilneas until they placed the Worgen there. They obviously weren't intended to come from where they came form, once Worgen lore was added, but they still came into existence anyways.
