I’m almost a doctor, and we generally say “Describe on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being nothing at all and 10 being the worst pain YOU’VE ever felt.” It’s supposed to be specific to you, not belittling other people’s pain!

As a black female, I can attest to that. It also doesn’t help that most all pain medications offer only a very, very brief window of relief, or at best put me to sleep. Doctors look at me like I am crazy, and assume I have an agenda, an addiction when I attempt to discuss with them the different types of pain…

Thing is, if you get lung cancer, it’s not like you’re going to be denied treatment. Your insurance will still cover it. The cost just gets offloaded more onto everyone else.

Is that $30 a month worth missing catching lung cancer early when it might still be treated?
