Turn up the music option in the menu. This is the first MK in a long time to have a good soundtrack, but the default settings have music volume turned much lower than the other sounds.

There are stage fatalities

This isn't a good MK to start with just because of the timing of combos. If you plan to just play casually, you're fine. However if you want to play at a somewhat competitive level, it will be much harder than starting with another game in the series.

MK9 Scorpion is nothing compared to MKX Scorpion. Counter characters seem to work best against him, but good luck doing that online with crap netcode.

This is the first one (of the newer games) with a focus on comedy instead of drama. This is also my favorite series.

They aren't broken that badly. Most casual players won't even notice the balancing changes. Impossible to release a perfectly balanced fighting game.

I think they realized the error when seeing Zangief doing something that wasn't possible in the latest version.

Balancing changes. For example some attacks do more/less damage in the new version or some moves change frame advantage a little bit

The wrong version was only used near the end of the tournament and includes balance changes that could have changed match outcomes.

Most FGC tournaments are run by the community. Everybody helps

"We think the book won't sell well" might give a "we think the book is crap" impression. They are choosing the safe route by avoiding using those words.
