My guess is that with iPhone they have a known hardware/software/performance expectation and can model it to work how they want. There are enough people out there to make it successful and if it is, it probably will migrate to other platforms.

Got an X100. I like it. It behaves wonky at times. Turned out that some SD cards didn't work as well as others. If you format the card on a Mac it has trouble turning on (the cam) with the card in it since it is trying to read the OSX files that get dropped onto the disk when you mount it in OSX.
