My story is the same as yours. I still feel like she's the hardest boss the game has to offer though (in terms of non-optional ones). I played through it again last year, and she messed up my "no death" challenge by killing me twice. Sadness.

While I'm confident that Bethesda would make an excellent S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, they already have a post apocalyptic IP that they saved from another developer. Plus, their dev cycle seems to now be Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Fallout. So I'd rather they focus on those great titles.
