I second that. I buy unlocked phones on Craigslist and then go with a prepaid carrier. I got burned by ETF's once and will never go through that again.

Great point . An emergency fund is an emergency fund, not an investment . It job is not to earn you money, it's just is to be there to handle unforeseable expenses so that they don't mess up other categories in your budget .

don't forget that you can save outside of tax advantages account as well. Don't the annual contribution limit on 401k's or IRA's hold you back.
