Agreed. There’s healthy load of irony in a company named “simplehuman” selling $100+ trash cans.

While I’m generally not averse to paying for quality products, paying over 100 dollars for a bucket to throw trash into seems absolutely insane to me.

I get that unease in big crowds too. I’m not so much worried about being blown up or shot, but imagining being trampled by thousands of people if panic ensues.

God, that’s kind of sad. I understand why they’re doing it but it’s sad just the same. I was in Disneyworld in October and never once did I feel unsafe or even think about the implications that someone would bust in with a gun or a bomb. Sitting at home now I realize how incredible naive that is of me. Damn.

Not gonna lie; this is basically the only reason I want to peruse Smith’s map now.

What if instead of dollar amount, you reported the percentage of total income saved? This should level the playing field a bit.

I like the idea of differentiating the money challenges each month or each quarter. That way people can get a handle on various approaches and see what fits best for them.

That just gets in the way of step two.

Of course I checked that. $27,145 in 14k gold (just the 2in figure).

“Everyone’s situation is different so I’m not saying I found the right way for everyone”

Just to share my own anecdote, I went back to renting after owning a home. The rent for the downtown Saint Paul location I want to be in is about $550 more than the mortgage for the townhouse in suburbs I owned. And I somehow have more money every month.

The problem with the FlipFold is that it optimizes for shelf stacking, rather than drawer storage. A typical dresser drawer is around 5-6” tall, while the FlipFold finishes folding shirts at what appears to be a third of the length of the t-shirt. For even small shirts, this is 8.75”. If you try to stack your shirts

Oh my gosh... Why did you show me this? Not only do I have to refold ALL my clothes, but now I have another book to read. Dang it Lifehacker!

Melanie, where did the top graphic in this article come from? I would love to use that calculator.

Pretty confused that the rates of your current loans/ proposed refi rates are nowhere in the graphic. Wouldn’t that be the most important variable?

I save all of my credit card reward points for holiday shopping. Then, at the end of the year, I haven’t had to make any major adjustments and have a couple hundred to buy gifts with.
