My dad and I have been arguing over email because he just doesnt think it’s realistic at all. I have decided to do the mature thing and give him the silent treatment half our of spite and half out of self-care.

Chris Pine’s hosting duties on Saturday Night Live this week gave him plenty of opportunities to play to his wheelhouse of “Star Trek Captain” and “Fratty Douche,”

But the House Freedom Caucus is freaking insane and I don’t think they will take kindly to the Senate messing with their bill.

“Willfully slaughtered” innocent children is stretching the truth past breaking point; obviously parents of those children won’t be consoled that their children were accidentally killed as collateral damage rather than deliberately targeted, but still. I also wouldn’t characterize the drone strikes as racist or

The ACA could very well be sustainably structured and should not be repealed. At this point there are only two gripes against it, which are both easily fixable.

In my grad school policy class one professor constantly likened policy development to making sausage (as in you don’t want to know what goes into it/see it being made). And used the quote “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good” often enough that I repeat it to myself near daily across every aspect of my life.

Or Republicans?

Neoconfederates and militia types have killed far more people recently. Let’s focus on the real threats.

ALL of this, and I’d add that the “Just go to the E-room” fallback is also fiscally magical thinking from our supposedly hardheadedly pragmatic Republican friends.

This story is such a great testament to both the emotional and the monetary costs of having uninsured people. It is cheaper to treat stage 1 colon cancer than stage 4. It is better for the economy to have people starting small businesses, launching successful freelance careers, etc. without having to worry about

I’m always curious how many people who criticize legislators for not reading bills that live in states with referenda and inititiaves read the text of the proposition instead of relying on the official summary and arguments, and if so, how much they feel like reading it illuminates the issue.

Fucking thank you!!!!!!!

Stop bringing trolls out of the greys.

I used to work there, and furthermore bills generally don’t mean much by themselves. They tend to say things like “in subsection 4(A), change effective January 1, 2020 to effective January 1, 2020 subject to approval by the Board as established in subsection 19(C).”

Seems a lot simpler than that to me. People are racist. Seeing a person of color succeed and become rich is inherently distasteful and scary to the established base of powerful, rich, white people.

Just look at the BernieBros who said “Well I didn’t get everything I wanted so I’m not going to vote for Clinton and help put in a TRULY awful president.”

Seriously. That man can fuck right off.

Right now I’m grumpy and haven’t had my coffee, so I may feel different later, but your comment captures everything I’m feeling right now. (Minus the dread, fear and anger at the other side, of course.)

Man fuck Bernie.

I am absolutely shocked that the Trump administration is trying to fuck over HBCUs. None of us saw that one coming!
