in *some* circumstances?

I’m not saying she’s a good person or that I agree with any political position she’s ever held, or that her appointment isn’t 100% payola based, but at least she’s technically qualified. that makes her better than most of his other picks.

“Hipster or Hatemonger?”

Our old honorary coach/mascot used to say: “you can always tell a harvard man, but you can’t tell him very much.”

you say that like it’s a bad thing. Is maintaining the existence of a 240 year experiment more important then maintaining its principles?

he knows there are TV cameras, right?

there’s a distinct difference between running for political office and actually running the government... I think we were all better off before we had instant access to judge politicians on the day-to-day business dealings in DC. there’s a reason the phrase about “laws and sausages” exists.

I just don’t know how we go back... by the time you get a 2/3 majority of states to recognize the flaws and fix them, will there be anyone/anything left to save?

I think as others have noted part of the problem is that different regions have different definitions for this stuff. Every definition I’ve ever seen for a burqa includes a face veil, but that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily always the case.

considering you need 2/3 of the states to ratify an amendment, and the 2/3 of the states with smaller populations benefit from the messed up arrangement of the EC, I’m not holding my breath.

fuck that shit. my cousin is an immigration activist and she and her wife are currently making plans to take in their nieces in the event her sister-in-law is deported. The correct response is not “you’ll be fine” it’s “what can I do and how can I help?”

Catholic schools seem to be insanely different depending on where you grow up - where I grew up you only went to catholic school if you were catholic or if you got kicked out of public school, but I have friends who lived in places where anyone who wanted to get into college went to catholic school.

eh. I know plenty of dickhead atheists (and dickhead religious people. And nice atheists and nice religious people. And nice agnostics. I don’t know any dickhead agnostics but I imagine they exist).

Now playing

There’s nothing wrong with being a good person because of religion. I don’t think it’s necessary, but I’m not going to judge them for it.

and single-minded. It’s way easier to focus when you all agree on everything.

If it was a ban on all “clothing that prevents facial identification” in high-risk areas would that make it better? It still only really applies to the burqa/niqab, halloween costumes, and the surgeons masks that I’ve seen some Asian people wear to prevent disease spreading, unless there’s something I’ve missed.

My issues with the Burka/Niqab in the particular locations mentioned (courts, schools, universities, road traffic and during police checks) is that both hinder identification - unless they’re going to staff those places with a female security officer and a room where they can screen people. I wouldn’t be OK with

Weird.

It’s not like they *care* except that wanting you punished is kind of a form of caring.

wait how can the fetus have been gestating two weeks before it was conceived?
