This looks absolutely horrendous, and only an idiot who likes simplistic bullshit plots that are over the top would pay money to watch this heaping ball of garbage.

Dear god I love Aghdashloo’s voice. It does sound a bit like she eats cigarettes for breakfast, lunch and dinner but that huskiness is its own appeal. It’s also instantly recognisable (such as when she pops up in Arcane)

I think her dying because he helped a stranger is the point. She saw that it worked out horribly, and she STILL told him it was the right call, and that she was proud of him, and that he should continue operating that way. It was an inversion of that plot point, and in the end, it worked.

Exactly - Aunt May was a character rather than a plot point. Sure, it’s sad for Peter when Uncle Ben dies, but typically we only get enough interaction with Uncle Ben to understand why Peter is sad, rather than actually feeling sad ourselves like with Aunt May. I guess the embargo lifted 10 minutes ago, and in those ten minutes I’ve seen 6 reviews. Three of those reviews say it’s pretty great, and the other three say it’s hot garbage. So I guess it’s another Matrix sequel.
