The best writers are the ones you enjoy, period. Some of them get by with a minimum of description, others with a florid, overstuffed style, like Jack Vance. I don’t think minimalism for its own sake is a virtue.

Those stories were also largely written before Asimov had learned to do action in any real way, or create characters that weren’t just talking heads.
