I'm no grammar expert, but "who" sounds more correct - or at least it does right now, you would probably get a different answer from me tomorrow. Couldn't it be "from a group of (fans who crashed)"? Does it matter if the fans crashed individually or in a group?
I know a lot of people don't like the way he died - saying it was undignified - but I felt it help underscore how dangerous a situation they were in. You don't take one on at close range, and they did not have time to even grieve his death - Sarah just takes his gun and ID and has to make John move on.
This actually makes me more interested in seeing Prometheus, as my preference is for actual sci-fi over horror - like "2001..", or the more recent "Moon".

My mother is German, but luckily she didn't read any stories like this to me when I was a child, otherwise I might have turned out even worse than I am now! Then again, maybe I would have turned out better.
