Same situation for me despite being male. I am mid-forties and single for almost a year. Nearly all my friends are married and they treat me like I am broken. Don't I want to settle down again? Don't I want to be part of a team again? Don't I want to grow old with someone wonderful? Yeah, I do, but let's focus on

I do. I would love to drive any Peugeot. We can swap if you live in Vegas. :-)

WAIT!!!! We could toss in Adderall instead. It will not only suppress appetite but will bring back some of the focus that is lost with the weed. Or, maybe the lack of focus is preferred?

I am happy your girlfriend achieved a level of emotional safety. Can't get rid of all the jerks, we can only combat them with self confidence.

I never think about triggering for body image issues. The world is a huge trigger and anything sales oriented will commonly present the "ideal" as a goal. There is no escaping it.

Almighty God. In what possible way does frantic binge exercising showcase what a perfect, special, not-to-be-changed snowflake each of us is?

I love cars. I love fashion. I love funny Germans.

As someone with serious body issues, I can say she probably (not trying to speak for her) doesn't care what you think is gross. Matter of fact, she may very well think calling her gross is just evidence of your jealousy and, therefore, validating.

I am team "marry your friend."

Marketing/advertising guy here. Basically, all content is produced to generate eyeballs to sell to others. The content is important to us but it is a money game, pure and simple. They may change the way they do things if viewership goes down and it can be directly tied to something like back commercial breaks but

Well, technically the dog would be named after you which sounds much more flattering. Right? Heh.

I just noticed your name. Trigun fan? I have a dog named Vash. :-)

De Tomaso Pantera. 55ohp. Very thirsty. Not my only car, with mileage being only one of the reasons.

16mpg is still double what my car gets. Sounds like a dream come true to me.

Separation, divorce, city with unobtainable ownership cost (San Fransico, for example), new to town, not staying in town long-term, renting in one city while owning in another, working in an industry with mostly unreported income, taking a job but don't want a mortgage until you know you like the job and city. These

I agree. There are things I am willing to pay much more for in order to have higher quality. Things I only want to buy one of. Ever.

Great point. Making $100k a year with $10k worth of tools is a good living. Justifying $100k in overhead would require a much bigger upside. My business used to have overhead of hundreds of thousands a year...now it is me and $10k worth of tools. I like the smaller way.

At the track, yes. On the street, no - for the same reason I don't wear a seatbelt on a motorcycle. That is why I said "ironically." Having a helmet save my life made me have an appreciation for safety equipment in cars...where I don't normally wear a helmet.

I can imagine how great it must feel to make something like that. I basically make disposable art for a living and it is considerably less rewarding. Well, artistically less rewarding.

It is amazing that people will spend up to a grand for a small knife. I get it though - I spend money on things that others think are crazy.
