The original XC90 - introduced in 2003 received a Good rating on the small overlap test (http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/v…) I think it’s the oldest car to do so. So many modern cars fail miserably at that test.

You can go to a dealership and find them new for under $25k, but the BRZ will be a future classic - a car that will be lusted for in 15 years.

I love my roadcrafter - best suit I’ve ever lived in for weeks at a time. Be careful with how the crotch material folds when you sit and it will be waterproof through the worst weather imaginable.

I have become a massive fan of Nolan modular helmets - surprised there was no mention in the list for anything Nolan. Much nicer that the Shoei I find

I just did that earlier this year with a motorcycle.

If you need tools, and are a beginner in Canada, Canadian Tire’s Mastercraft Maximum line is about the best deal for sockets and the like.

Doesn’t matter the age. My mother had never done much till she retired and just shy of 60 she picked up wood working - she now makes high end custom cabinetry with high end finishes all by herself.

Will never be seen since I’m in the greys - but the Honda Element for me. Started in 2003, it’s the best of funky SUV/Crossover.

Between your legs, in the front seats of an XC90 R-design and some other Volvos are some very small pockets that are perfect for stashing a cell phone, map or receipts.

The correct place to put the Porsche pipe is, of course, hanging out the rear.

I had one of these growing up (called it the shaggin wagon as a teenager). Best car to learn how to drive on - as a result of the tiny mirrors and massive size, I can now parallel park anything on four wheels the first try.

When's the next version being released? This one is old, very old...

Forgive me as a Canadian I don't get this - what did Obama have to do with it? Did he walk down the street with a Billion+ dollars and hand it to them in a suitcase? Looking at this article it says Bush would have signed the bailout for them: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/20/bus…

I still think one of the most important things to bring on a trip is a sense of adventure followed closely by time. If you can find both, you'll have a far more enjoyable trip even if everything breaks on your car, your reservations don't work out and you get caught in a storm.

For less than $8000 Canadian you can have an Acura TL Type S with the 6 speed already done, with fewer miles, and a newer car - why go through the trouble when you can get it already sorted for about the same money? http://wwwb.autotrader.ca/a/Acura/TL/THO…

We had one when I was young - had the towing package with air suspension in the back which came with an annoying beeping noise if you hit 120 km/h. I could drive it at a perfect 119Km/h and only have the beep hit on downhills.

Maybe things are different up here in Canada, but all of the uhaul trailers I've rented over the years (all 6x12 enclosed) have been in great shape - lots of tread on the tires, new safety chains, etc... and always tow straight.

Would help if I read the article more closely...
