Ah, yes, my very first ‘why am I still watching this?’ show of the year.
Ah, yes, my very first ‘why am I still watching this?’ show of the year.
Your snark would land a lot better had Sony simply swallowed Capcom whole back in 2016.
Final Fantasy games - hell, Square-Enix games in general - appear on Xbox hardware because Microsoft pays far out the ass for them to even be there at all. A number of those titles don’t even release on Xbox outside of Europe and the Americas. Left to their own devices, Square-Enix likely wouldn’t bother supporting…
Because Microsoft’s simply buying said exclusives out from underneath everyone else’s feet rather than, you know, actually putting in the effort and cultivating them.
Yeah, that’s pretty much where I was at by the time I bounced off of Octopath Traveler. I also didn’t think the complete lack of overlap between character stories would get to me, but it became incredibly jarring by about the third or fourth addition to the party.
This fucking game. I still remember being completely taken in by the bullshots that were part of some Game Informer spread.
That being the case, might I interest you in this GIF of a bridge?
It’s not, but the term has lost almost all meaning nowadays.
Assuming the criteria emphasized writing or story, I’d think at least a smattering of years - accounting for tastes and trends of the times - might look like this:
Well, as you said - and as I said in my original post - Square ultimately didn’t move ahead with any plans to make a version of Final Fantasy XI more in line with the other numbered entries barring XIV. And, if memory serves, the reasons given did, in fact have to do with cost. But, again, my recollections are hazy…
Pretty much the only PC gaming I care about. Now if someone can figure out how to load this fucker up with Sierra titles and some of the more unexpected arcade ports and I’ll be set. Hell, stick a word processor on this thing and I’d probably consider using it as a work machine.
It’s the natural outcome of the ‘perfect for Switch’ mentality. Nintendo fans can be a lot. But Nintendo handheld fans are fucking lunatics.
I feel like at least a little of this problem could be alleviated by creating an offline, single-player version of Final Fantasy XIV for those of us who’d simply be playing for the story. But, eh, that’s probably more trouble than it’s worth to Square.
Considering how hard Square-Enix was pushing the Lightning trilogy (and the character herself) during the seventh-gen, I’m shocked we still haven’t received any sort of remastered collection. Especially since, backwards compatibility or no, PlayStation 4/5 and Switch still represent a far larger collective market than…
I did and still do want an Analog Pocket, but, unfortunately, they’re more difficult to obtain than a PlayStation 5 - and seemingly, like, forever. (I’ve been looking at some of Anbernic’s products as an alternative - since I’d honestly get more use out of an emulator box - but I’ve read that they can be very…
I predict great music and terrible everything else.
I realize the window probably closed years ago, but I’d really love to see Gunslinger ported to the PlayStation 4 or 5. A Switch Lite simply isn’t the most ideal platform for first-person shooters. A standard Switch ain’t much better, though the Lite’s shitty ergonomics is pushing me towards buying a Pro controller,…
So is Capcom ever planning to release the additional games they promised earlier in the year or…?
I know people like to discuss whether or not we’ve finally achieved Pixar quality visuals in-game, but I feel we’ve already hit that milestone at least twice over with both Rift Apart doing the whole Pixar thing and Final Fantasy VII Remake giving us a playable Advent Children.
I suppose the current aughts revival was destined to get around to the vintage edgelord bullshit sooner or later.
