why are you theonly one at your birthday party? Oh yeah, because you are mathematical breaking down the cake. Nerd.

It puts the frosting on its skin...
Did he seriously put a rubber band around a cake to hold it together and then refer to the cake as "the flesh????"
Awesome - that gave your son a lesson for life. I bet you were only half as proud of him as he was of himself. Fuck bullies
In 2nd grade my son was being mercilessly teased by another boy and would often come home crying . I explained to my nine year old what a bully was and how the bully is really a coward and if he would only just punch this douchebag in the face he would stop bothering him My son's reply was that he didnt want to get…
There you go, kids! Stick up for yourselves! Also, get suspended for doing so. Authority figures won't see or hear any of your torment, but they'll be able to smell that punch you throw from 400 yards.
"Grow a pair" sounds like what a fucking bully would tell some kid while beating them up.
Oh sure, next you're going to tell me that I shouldn't be heading down past drug lords into the remote Mexican wilderness to challenge a hidden tribe of runners to a 50-mile unsanctioned road race
Being a "tween" in the early 80's and one that used books and art as an escape, what intrigued me the most was the book covers. The face of a beautiful, stricken girl looking out a tiny, window of a creepy ass house surrounded by weirdly drawn flowers or whatever. Them you open the cover to see the whole family and a…
I should also add that SYG aside, your assertion that they're completely different situations is off base as well. Both were cases where the shooter asserted self defense. The disparity in how those claims were received is why Marissa Alexander's case gets such attention.
Thank you Heynowhey! Also, the jury, when interviewed afterwards admitted they used the SYG law in their decision as to his guilt. Quote from a juror interviewed"JUROR: Right. Because of the heat of the moment and the Stand Your Ground. He had a right to defend himself. If he felt threatened that his life was going to…
This isn't quite true. While Zimmerman's defense team did not try to get the case dismissed under Stand Your Ground, the law was invoked at every level of the case. Zimmerman invoked it that night as justification for why he shot Martin. The police and DA originally declined to prosecute citing SYG. The defense…
It would help if she weren't also Existing While Black. That's a huge disadvantage, right there.
Yeah, because they usually broadcast what they're gonna do before the wedding. And since that's how it works, anything that happens to you if you marry an abuser is your fault. SAID NO NORMAL, THINKING, EDUCATED, EMPATHETIC NON-SOCIOPATH EVER.
So your solution is what? Put all the prisoners on Instagram? Let them have cell phones? If you refer back to my original comment I'm arguing against the idea that I should feel bad for them because they don't have social media. The fact that phone calls cost a lot isn't germane to that discussion, IMO. I didn't even…
I wasn't advocating for them to be off the internet entirely, and I actually do think that sometimes email would be appropriate (or scheduled Skype as another person suggested). The rest of it? Instagram, texts, Facebook? Nope. Communication between prisoners and their spouses has never been immediate; I don't think…
THANK YOU. Not that prisoners should all be treated as if they're all in solitary confinement, but the point of being locked away is being locked AWAY. Jail is a punishment; it would be cruel to remove all contact with the outside world and cause even more problems for when they're released, but to give prisoners the…
I'm a huge believer in rehabilitation - that prison isn't just there for punishment.
To me is has nothing to do with the idea of social media taking over relationships. While I feel for the families of inmates in general, I don't feel sorry for the actual inmates who can't "like" a pic or get/send a text. They're criminals and are in prison for a reason—it's punishment, after all.
I think the bigger issue is that they can't be a part of their wives or girlfriends' lives like they would if they weren't incarcerated.
