"Every planet and every star-system in the game is created procedurally, but they all make sense and have ecology. Once they are discovered by one player, they exist for everyone else, and so the act of discovery is also an act of creation. Having said that, according to Murray, players can make significant changes to

Poetic.

For now, but Phil Fish is a giant flake and has made similar threats in the past. He'll probably come back at some point.

Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate that you took the time. As far as LoL and DotA, I'm not sure that they should be included in the list. While I've played LoL since pre-season 1, it is constantly undergoing changes, and any one of those patches can drastically change the way the game is played (the recent

Can you explain why these changes were made? It seems odd to me that Portal 2 would replace Witcher 2 or Far Cry 3 considering that Portal 2 was already out when Far Cry 3 was released, and both The Witcher 2 and Portal 2 have been around since 2011. I still think FTL deserves a spot in the top 12 recent PC games. If

I didn't even know that there were mods for starbound. Thanks Kotaku. As cool as this is, I hope that it gets Steam Workshop support. I like how easy Nexusmod is to navigate, but I've had some issues with slow download speeds off of their servers, and there have been occasions where I've gone to the site only for it

I mean, "because my cat likes it" is about as valid as most arguments right now. Until exclusives really start pouring in I don't think that either one is worth getting.

You beat me to it.

It is and I did, but PC got very few exclusives this year unfortunately. It seems that indie devs were the only ones who gave them some love.

This isn't quite the opposite of what media usually does. If a gamer started the fire (rather than saved someone) then they would aggressively blame video games for the behavior, not mention it in passing as this article does.

It certainly isn't rare anymore, especially considering the popularity of sports games. There is however, a large portion of the population (not just gamers) who don't watch sports, or at the very least don't watch a specific sport (in this case football.)

Nope, published by 505 games. It's also rather curious that it is the best Xbox game considering that it is also on PC and PSN.

I wonder if indie games were even considered for anything outside of the indie category. My RPG pick would've gone to Penny Arcade 4, although I thought 3 was better. My pick for best indie game would've been different as well, I'm not sure what, but it wouldn't have been that. Also, Gone Home for best PC game?

I like this idea. I think that they should expand the service to include other celebrities. There a lot of actors, comedians, and musicians that also play video games, and I'm sure there are people willing to pay to play with them.

Considering that this is a video game site and not a sports site (two hobbies that are often stereotyped at odds with each other) it was probably a safe bet. With the exception of some of the most talked about names in sports, I could bump shoulders with pro athletes and never know it.

You're missing my point. Vegas doesn't currently look 50s or like people's vision of the future. This was added in to the game. That make the potential location's "retro-ness" irrelevant in the selection process. The war took place in 2077, so its current and past man-made structures (not including major landmarks)

I didn't even realize that he was a voice actor, so I did a quick search on him and I'm impressed. I didn't know that he did Spyro, granted, it is a spinoff series, but it raised my respect for him quite a bit. I've apparently played/seen several of his works without knowing it, and I've think highly of his role in

lol That's true, I'd do the same.

I think there's a fatal flaw in your logic though. The Fallout universe is styled after the 1950s, but it takes place sometime after 2050. The locations featured in Fallout don't presently (in 2013) look like they came out of the 50s, which means that it changed between the game's release and the time game takes

It is not Megacity One. There are as many vast and unpopulated spaces, as I said before, as there are townships and cities and suburban areas.
