All that is needed is a few adult staff that monitor the library/study lounge and remove/expel students that are not actually studying. I personally wish that men and women could both have separate spaces. But women made it very clear that they didn’t like that, that they felt men were excluding them from something

I love your articles Kelly. I used to agonize about how out of sync with the times my kitchen and bathrooms were. I lived through the whole granite counter top trend and feel great satisfaction that it has now mostly died. Most of us do not have the time or money to spend keeping up with people’s houses we see on TV

Lyz this was a good and entertaining and thoughtful piece. It reminds me a bit of “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never do Again” by David Foster Wallace. I have been on three cruises and liked them all but what you say and what he says is very true.

Good point about the sameness of the contestants but that first line of the article doesn’t compute. How is tight athletic wear any more or less “age appropriate” than swim wear? Seems to me I see plenty of tweens and teens in tiny bikinis at the beach and at the pool all the damn time. Seems like you are just making

I am sure I enjoyed these quotes from the reviews more than I would the movie itself. Lately I have realized that just about every action movie being made now is just LOUD and POUNDING and usually longer than it needs to be. I read the original Robert Ludlum novels that these movies sprang from back in the 80s and

Kelly you are my favorite Jezzie. You show us this interesting history. Or should I say herstory. As a lab tech I find it interesting how complicated the early tests were compared to the easy to use sticks of today.

B) I imagine they were experimenting with sex like 13 year olds naturally want to do. But looking back on all this hysteria (pun intended) about women trying to find out if they were pregnant is both interesting and infuriating. It angers me that Doctors were afraid that this would cut into their business. I really

The real life Miss Piggy. Jim Henson had no idea who Mariah was when he created Miss Piggy (because she was just 6) but he was prophetic.

You are trolling me here but I will take the bait. I was not saying anything bad about women in my responses. I was talking about Pop music and how hard it is for older artists, in this case female because Mariah Carey was the subject of the article. I would say this all holds true for male artists as well. Not many

Oh I see what you there!

Never meant that they had to please my tastes. I was thinking of the tastes of mass consumerism. Images that sell music. I grouped them the three together because I googled them and noticed that they were the same age. Aging pop stars have to compete against younger pop stars for essentially the same costumers. Older

It is not bad. Not great. Average Brit-Brit. Good pop. I imagine that on this board she can mostly do no wrong considering that most here were probably at prime pop age when she dominated the charts.

Mariah, JLo, and Gwen Stefani. All 46 and all dealing with the consequences of aging in the world of Pop music. Mariah has the other two beat in terms of her album sales and number one hits. She is a legend. The number one soloist of all time. But she is also a little bit on the soft and chunky side and although I

Yes this appears to be that kind of article where we in the reply section try to outdo each other with our choices. You guys having been married 22 years ago and my wife and I approaching 25, we probably both look at that list above and just roll our eyes! It just goes to show how fast times change and how short lived

I love that “hysteria” was really just code for “she is horny as fuck and grumpy as hell about it”. Anyone here watch Another Period on Comedy Central. In the first season, there is an episode where Dr. Freud is conducting a “therapy session” with the main women characters. Hilarious!

I guess the feeling of being a geezer sets in earlier than ever now. I have been going through it for some time now. I am so old that I consider Destiny’s Child to be one of my newer CDs since I purchased it as a fully grown adult in my 30s. The music that really formed me was all made in the 70s and 80s and all

You speak truth. As a kid if you told me the future would hold a tv channel called Cartoon Network, I would have died thinking that would be heaven. But in reality, it and the others took away the specialness of Saturday morning or weekday afternoon cartoon blocks.

Another Old here who watched the same shows in the 70s. Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny and Road Runner, Speed Buggy, Space Ghost, Hong Kong Fuey, The Jetsons, Pebbles and Bam Bam, etc. Also the live action shows like ARK II, Shazam, Isis, Electrowoman and Dynagirl, Jason of Space Command, etc. All of these and many others

Well said and I agree. Wayne is a shill for the gun industry and the American public can’t and won’t see it.

I partially blame the education industry for this. It was in their interest to get more people to get Bachelor’s degrees. Eventually the value of the degree tanked and at the same time became the entry level requirement for most career level jobs. So now you have to have one just to get a relatively crappy job.
