Since most people plan on buying a case, this is a non-issue for them. It is only an issue for those that want a naked gadget. That should be the point of the article.

@TomXP411: I think what the original poster is getting at is that every company has problems and occasionally individual customers are left holding the bag. However, on average Apple does much better than anyone else. Thus it makes sense to stick with Apple.

@Dacker: First the bumper is made of plastic, silicone and metal for the buttons. Second, many other companies make worse cases that cost the same amount and no one bitches about those.
