So I guess no future Star Wars projects are gonna go anywhere near the sequel trilogy era, huh?

I love how D20 keeps mixing stuff up each season (and has shorter seasons). It reminds me of British television compared to American Soaps. Like, you’re seeing the same actors in a lot of short tv shows and sequel series are spaced pretty far apart, but there’s a lot more variety and stuff doesn’t drag on as much.
If you want to easily transition to virtual with as minimal learning as possible, I can’t recommend Owl Bear Rodeo enough. It’s the equivalent of grabbing a map and throwing some minis on a table. It even comes preloaded with some basic maps and tokens. It’s entirely browser based. Oh, and it’s free!
Hurray! And it’s a movie! So Netflix can’t cancel it and break my heart!
This feels like the pinnacle of what I see as a lot of useless digital tools for 5th edition. I do like digital tools. Heck, I wouldn’t even be playing DnD right not if it wasn’t for DnD Beyond and Owlbear Rodeo. But I’ve seen so many weird products lately that are trying to reverse engineer DnD into a type of video…
Watched this movie for the first time last night and I got to say it felt weird. Like, the big emotional beats generally landed but they felt muffled by how much of the movie is pulling from an existing knowledge and affection for entirely different movie series. I enjoyed Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman but I haven’t…
It’s interesting he brought up Princess Bride because that’s a story that interrogates the conventions of its genre (in this case, Fairy Tales) while also affectionately embracing them. That’s kind of where I feel a DnD movie should be. The game is built on beloved archetypes but becomes something different and unique …
I’m of two minds about this. On the one hand, there’s been an explosion of board games and tabletop over the last ten years because people want more in-person human interaction. Heck, even Magic the Gathering saw enormous growth in their paper business over the last three years and everyone was expecting them to have…
I used to think my campaigns were GoTG in tone but lately they’ve certainly started going more in a Peacemaker direction lol.
The LOTR trilogy has way too many to pick a favorite but god damn does that Rohirim motif make you want to cheer!
Watched it the other week and man, that Atlantean Sword scene is such a great example of that score at work. It’s just Arnie in a room grabbing a sword but the music really makes you feel the weight of that setting’s history, the scope of what that world is, and the place Conan is rising to within it.
I’m not sure I understand your question (or statement?) but Encanto was released in theaters Nov 24, underperformed and was an animated family film. If I was a Disney Exec, I’d be taking a hard look at whether it’d make sense to use my animated films as a way to get families into theaters or as a means to drive more…
It’s a risky venture running with that many characters. I run an 8 player campaign and a 6 player campaign right now and those games only go as smoothly as they do because everyone knows their characters, knows one another, and their characters have enough thematic overlap that the party isn’t going in 9 million…
As Spiderman showed, adult fans will literally risk their health to see a big Marvel release. However, Pixar’s audience is families that, more often than not, have kids. A lot of which are too young to be vaccinated. Affording to bring a family to the movies is already expensive enough and you want to combine that…
Like most streaming services in their first year, Peacock had nothing, but a year later and Girls5Eva, Rutherford Falls, and We Are Lady Parts are all Peacock exclusives that are certifiably great. All the media companies are basically in an arms race for streaming content because traditional network television is…
Oh man, gonna import a bunch of these bad boys next time I have a roach problem. But how do I keep the centipedes from getting out of control? Get a bunch of centipede-eating lizards! Then import a large numbers of lizard-eating Chinese Needle Snakes, and then when the snake population becomes uncontrollable, I’ll…
Looks like they spared no expense!
(Incoming video call from your cat)
The TOS crew was definitely rougher around the edges than the TNG team and I agree that’s why they fit so well with the DS9 crew. It’s way harder to envision anyone from TNG getting in a drunken bar scrap...other than Worf lol. And hey!
Rewatched this movie recently and the one thing I didn’t realize as a kid was how gosh darn horny all the adults are. The number one reason the sisters seem to be able to move through town is everyone is flirting with them. This one exchange with the bus driver is wild;
