This Missoula native (who was rather vocal on the last Jez article on this topic) thanks you from the bottom of my heart for this well-written comment.

Yeah, the spam is really starting to bother me, especially because I love nail art and makeup tips, but the "Beauty" boards are overwhelmed with Anti-Cellulite "pins (aka ads)" and stupid crap like that.

I am still in shock that I got my boyfriend hooked on Scandal. We caught up on 3 episodes in a row, and then the next week he was like, "Honey, can we watch Scandal live tonight?" HA

As I recall, my friends and I were the most scared of the police that weekend — there were traffic stops and barricades downtown if I remember right? Guess nothing has changed in that respect, based on this article...

Thank you — you said it more succinctly than I was able to. And my many many friends and family who still live in Missoula and attend the U are on your side.

I think all big colleges with active Greek systems that venerate athletes promote this kind of behavior... in certain types of people....assholes. But you are right — and I wrote this before I wrote that other comment — by then, I'd gotten to the bottom of my feelings about why this bothered me. The article purports

Interesting. I went to a small college with no Greek system, so it may just be how I interpreted his stories about Frat life. Although he did tell me that thing about the open drinks, but I think that's a fairly recent problem, I've heard people talk about that being an issue in NYC of late, much more now than when I

Why does it matter that he was a UM grad? Assholes are everywhere.

As a Missoula native (and, for the record, long time Jezebellian) I feel a little defensive after reading this. Missoula is not the U of M, and the U of M is not Missoula. I wish Katie had talked to a few more people who were not students or affiliated with the University about Missoula's current status of

I came here to say the same thing. As a high-school student in Missoula, I heard rumors about girls being raped by football players at/after frat parties, but never experienced any problems myself (although, a guy in my year was jailed after he abducted and raped a girl in a meth-fueled rage, but this was 7-8 years

I think those schools would admit qualified male candidates if they applied, though. There are definitely (small) male populations at Wellesley, Smith, etc, and especially at Sarah Lawrence which has a grad school. But not that many men would necessarily want that environment? ("all girls? Score!" jokes aside).

It's officially a thing — after all, the NYTimes Style Section did a trend piece on eyelash extensions just this past weekend!

It's Rory Gilmore!!! (I am a nerd). In real life, she's Alexis Bledel.

This article delves into the back story a bit: [nymag.com]

Eugenides is most definitely not a dick. He's just a little weird and a lot socially awkward (like a lot of writers). And hey, maybe HE was geeking out over Jennifer Wiener talking to HIM!

The Marriage Plot didn't win the Pulitzer. Middlesex did. Big, big difference. (I liked The Marriage Plot, fwiw. Especially when you realize that the characters are basically stand-ins for Mary Karr, David Foster Wallace, and Eugenides himself.)

I love them. I have several pairs of their stretch skinnies. They're super comfy and under $100. I've had them for a few years — don't put in the dryer and they'll last great.

Oh yes, Clown Porn is most definitely a thing...that I discovered in high school when my drama group had a cast party at some girl's house. Her mom had an extensive collection of clown porn, several dildos, and she bought us a bunch of booze. That was one depraved cast party. Images from that porn are seared into

If you can find it, Martha Stewart's Turkey Hill brand has a half-and-half carton which is Chocolate on one side and Vanilla on the other. Your wish is granted! And I find that brand to be quite high-quality, creamy, and delicious.

My BF thought Megan was going to jump off the balcony. And yes, the sound was amazing on our surround sound. Typing on one side, phones ringing on the other, etc.
