@PilgrimSoul: I actually don't know all that much about her life outside her novels, so I'll give you that one.

You know it's going to end up being someone like Sienna Miller though. Ugh. As long as it's not Cameron Diaz.

@huffyb: Actually, The Robber Bride is #1 (I think I'm the only person in the world who loves that book), and #2 is of course The Blind Assassin.

@PilgrimSoul: See that's funny. Atwood is my favorite author of all time, and I loathe Alice Munroe. Talk about snooze alert. She's decided to retire and I think that's a good idea. There are officially enough stories about women who are dissatisfied with their marriages.

@gherkinfiend: The answer to the long back zips dilemma is yoga. :)

All I can think about is the part where Offred is on her way to buy food (the stores are marked by placards with pictures of what they sell, since Handmaids aren't allowed to read) and sees some Japanese tourists take a photo of her (she's jealous that the women get to wear lipstick, nylons and high heels).

Aha! Thanks for this! I literally just returned to my desk after taking my weekly trip to B&N, where I bought this book. Now I know what I'm doing this weekend.

I adore SamRon's new hairdo. If I upload a picture of myself, will you guys tell me if I can pull it off? :)

Color me shocked! This is pretty much the perfect fashion show and perfect collection! As @gherkinfiend says, models of color! And I could theoretically wear almost every one of those outfits with a few modifications!

That silver "cord-tangle" dress is what the ANTM "Bureaucracy" photo SHOULD have looked like.

I LOVED having my mom and dad read this to me as a kid. "Kerplink, kerplank, kerplunk."

My parents were married when my mom was 19 and my dad was 22. (36 years ago Tuesday!). They waited to have kids so they could get advanced degrees, and my mom gave birth to me one day before she turned 28. This year, I turned 28 — celebrating our birthdays together was a bit of a mind-freak.

Oh, Hai...Penpal Story? I've got one.

Is that a diaper in her hand?

This is exactly why I only travel with my family these days (meaning parents/brother). We all get along, and since we hardly ever see each other and all have to travel a long to be together, we put any minor disagreements aside so that we can enjoy what little time we have.

@TheGintheCity: To explicate my comment further, I think shopping can be frustrating for everyone, not just larger-sized people (a 25-yo girl I work with is so naturally tiny—short and thin—that she has to shop in kids departments. Not even petites will fit her. Imagine being having to wear clothes made for

@WallSt_Rabbit: WallSt, I have the same problem finding smaller sizes, but based on your name I'm guessing you live in NYC. I think we have opposite problem is here; Old Navy stuff is often adorable, but unless I go at 7am on the day they restock the store, all the small sizes are gone by noon.

@More than a Reference: Those things kill my ears too. Oh, the pain. But beware the Bose in-ears. Mine fell apart after about 9 months, and I lost 2 earbuds (Bose replaced them free but still).
