It just means he can’t vote in the Academy, he would still be eligible for Oscars and could attend in the future if invited.

Apparently a lot of people didn’t know. I had heard (I think an article on the Root mentioned her show and her mentioning it) and remembered it, so I assumed everyone else had know (I’m an idiot, so if I know something I assume everyone else must).
But I’m begining to understand how Chris Rock may honestly not have…

I think the insanity was more about the (extremely formal) circumstances/venue. If Will had been drinking in a bar somewhere and a guy mocked his wife’s appearance, and Will hauled off and smacked him, that would practically be considered business as usual.

For real, even stepping back because he’d “deprived others of the opportunity to be celebrated", it's still him in the headlines.

Also, I'm pretty sure "her bald head" is due to shaving it. She has some hair loss, but she's talked about how she decided to just shave her head rather than try to hide missing hair.

His attendee giftbag only has $75,000 worth of cool shit instead of the normal $125,000.

In other words: nothing is gonna happen. My guess is they told him to do this in advance or they would kick him out; he chose the more dignified exit. All this means is he can’t vote for movies. He’ll probably be allowed to show up next year like nothing happened. 

Besides being trashy as fuck and shocking an international audience, sure, nothing happened. Normalize people beating each other up in public over any perceived slight, because we’re malfunctioning goo robots or whatever. 

You must be able to be nominated without being a member (think of someone like Anna Paquin being nominated for her first role in the Piano). Same with attending. He likely won’t ever be nominated again (or invited back for a long time), but that would be the case even if hadn’t resigned (or gotten expelled).

When those two first showed up at the Oscars, I assumed Jada was doing a throwback to the Matrix. Her gown matched the green and the billowing train reminded me of Morpheus’ leather duster. I didn’t notice her bald head because it’s becoming more commonplace. Overall, she looked good!
