Motorized seatbelts. Had a Talon with them. Hated every second of it. Thankfully it still worked, but why add all the weight and complexity? I've priced other cars' automatic belts, and GOOD GOD.

Ah yes, the intermediate shaft bearing problem. Not quite as nasty as the 2.7L problems, but I think fresher in people's minds. Again Pelican has a great article on it. My understanding is that the problem effected both the 986 and 996 (as in all early Porsche water-cooled engines).
