Couple things you’re leaving out. . .the air is thinner up there. TV is higher. But, more importantly, mountains are generally wider at the bottom than at the top. Unlikely he fell 3280 through thin air. Was probably bonked unconscious, or knocked dead well before he made it through 3280 feet.
