6th gear: When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my father. . .not screaming in terror like his passengers.

. . .while leading.

"Not done in one take" is the jalopnik equivalent of "her elbows are too pointy."

I'm really interested to see if the TDI catches on in the US like hybrids seem to have. My golf couldn't be a more perfect daily driver for a commuter who wants to whip it around and feel the G's a little bit while still getting incredible mileage and making a lot fewer trips to the pump.

Mr. Magoo.

Those are sweet dubs on his tailgate.

Funny discussion.

We were high school kids. They had swiped a fire extinguisher from school and were trying to pass us and spray it at the car.

It's still the same mistake, but with worse consequences. It doesn't change the fact that he would have turned out fine and that killing him would have piled another tragedy on top of it.

While in high school, I was in a car that was forced off the road by people we knew. The car flipped, and 3 of us were thrown from the car (multiple fracture, concussions, etc.)

//tries to upload barely funny image again

Why are you trying to steal my BMW?

I used to speedskate (short track) and these ideas are essential.

This is such a terrible car. My wife and I got one from the rental place in Portland, OR last year. My wife would barely know the difference between driving a Ferrari and a Ford, and after about two days in this car, she goes, "this car really sucks" and we made fun of it for the next 5 days.

Yeah, the GTD is sweet. People say that some basic chip tuning can get the TDI up to 180 (I don't really know or care. I'm not doing it to mine).

Yeah, but there's a lot of sweet roads well outside of Watkins.

Road trip up the Susquehanna to watch a race from the infield at Watkins Glen. Cross the river at Millersville on the Millersville ferry (pictured). Hoon around the Finger Lakes while not at the race.

Yes. Just as fun in many scenarios and much better mileage.

No, it shares the suspension and many other components. Essentially the same interior. Very fun to drive, and doesn't just GET 30 mpgs. . .it blows 30 mpgs away.

The "fun isn't there" with 236-ft lbs. of torque and the suspension of the GTI?
