I said it above, but this article outlines a misunderstanding of this relationship. Youtube and “youtubers” are not an employer-employee relationship. It’s more aligned with selling stuff (read: content) on Ebay or Amazon. They dictate the rules, and you are free to move on to another service.

This is pretty accurate. I guess you could consider professional youtubers being closer to freelancers that Youtube is just paying by commission.
