@pelos_locos: Thank you for brining up this point, as I can't help but notice that due to inflation games are getting cheaper and cheaper. I still remember buying games in the late 80's and early 90's for $60-$70 each (and approaching $75-$80 for SNES RPGs). PC games seem to have stayed relatively constant in price,

@Archaotic: What the... how is it that he has 917 games... when the total playtime of all of them only totals 2.9 hours?! (at least of the games I could find in his list that listed any playtime at all... took me way too long to page through them all)

@okor: Yes, because of transaction fees from Paypal (etc.), anything less than — I forget what exactly — 30 cents or so and the devs and charities see NONE of it.

@Neriastar: The value of this kind of research not only improves our understanding of the subject matter being researched, it leads to a number of technological innovation in unrelated fields as well. Take space research for example — although you can say we haven't really "done much" in that department (yeah, we're

@mespme: I still don't understand why this game isn't called Final Fantasy Online. I HAAAATE the fact that it's in the same numbering system as the single player games!

@Koopa Doopa: You know, I have a an E6600, GTX260 and 4GB of RAM (compared to your 2GB) and I run DX10/11 Civ 5 perfectly... no slowdown, all settings max at 1920x1200. I also play all the fanciest FPSs and latest games at very-high/almost-max settings as well. My rig is almost identical in specs to yours (save for

The Lebron James clip (1:27) is most definitely fake... Shooting 80-foot jumpers require absolutely inhuman strength. Even shooting a 50-foot jumper with a slight running start is beyond only maybe two or three players in the whole NBA.

@Umbra: The fact that you can even add NON-Steam games and still use the Steam Overlay is pure unadulterated awesomeness. It's a feature they totally didn't HAVE to do, and in fact would be a kind of feature other companies would actively avoid having (e.g. "You want to use the Overlay? You must buy the game on

@nkCow: Honestly, it doesn't HAVE to be complicated... you always have the option of swallowing your pride and playing on the easy difficulties. I know in Civ4, at the easiest setting, you can just randomly make units for fun and still win (while letting the game auto-manage some of the more obscure tasks and

@Krakenstein: Left 4 Dead shouldn't even really count as zombies. The "zombies" are actually infected with a mutant strain of rabies, which causes their behavior and appearance. In the game, they're even called "infected" (special infected, common infected, etc.), not zombies. So they're not even undead... they were

@Archaotic: "Overblown Flash games"? One of the key characteristics of indie games is that they eschew big production values to deliver something with more creativity, ingenuity, and heart. You can't expect big-budget productions from teams of 1 to 10 people, and thus accordingly, they may look "simple" or like "Flash

@Archaotic: I'm assuming that somehow your fingers slipped and the name "Valve" got left out.

@Crrash: There have been far worse games that have received sequels.

@Dinoczar: Just to confirm, YES, with Steam you can download it as many times as you want on as many computers as you want (only exceptions are games that themselves limit number of installations... but that has nothing to do with Steam).

If this game is ever made, it better be the greatest game ever made. Because with all its hype/infamy, there is almost no way that it could possibly satisfy the people who have been waiting for it.

@battra92: No, it does not hold up as a single player game. The single player is meant to be nothing more than a tutorial. You certainly can "skirmish" with the AI, but the AI is rather ineffective. The bots are really just "filler" for when there are some empty slots in your game. They're reasonably competent but

@seventyfourmanx: $12,500. It's intended for use in places like bars, hotels, game shops, and venues like that. Definitely not intended for individual home use... unless you're really hanking to plop down 12 grand for digital Catan.

@icy_one: Yup, The developer itself I can deal with, as it's their game and they're proud to present it. But Bink, Nvidia, Dolby, and whoever else — I really really really don't care... just wasting my time, plain and simple.
