I am willing to bet some people at the bottom were fired, it just isn't as newsworthy as a CEO taking a cut. That said a CEO pay cut is rarely more than symbolic, most of their money is already vested in shares, retirement & release clauses, and other financial stock worth far more than their actual declared salary.
