Some cool stuff. Anyone know if that is the start of a heel spur?

I was wondering what ever happened to the Buran. Google shows it was on the scrapheap in 2011
All the original Star Wars sounds were real sound out in the world they recorded and just picked and chose what sounded best. A couple of guys took microphones around and just recorded stuff. The blaster sounds in the movie are made by striking a metal guy wire on a telephone pole with a wrench. You can put your ear…
OK did some research. Found it interesting that they were testing inside of an old Hardened Aircraft Shelter (HAS or HAZ) at the old RAF base in Newquay Cornwall. Turns out this video is from 3 Oct 2012 and the full version I found on line is pretty cool. There is also a Vimeo video shot with 8 Olympus i-speed…
Exactly!
Maybe he's part Navajo? They have no fear of high places either. Probably just crazy though.
Is that a person standing there? Most rocket motor tests don't let you stand this close to a test firing because it may blow up. I need to check out the video later for a closer look.
That setup is a thing of engineering beauty.
I'm laughing because I'm thinking how many people are going to see this and wont get it.
True, I could have showed him the GIF version of the impactor video. Extreme close-up!
at least it wasn't a shoe..
Yes I know it's the internet and there are no cat videos involved here. What is the world coming to?
Yup mine too. I'll get a ticket for littering someday, because they found my name on a piece of trash left on a comet.
All in your view of what is a close up is. The one taken by Rosetta today is a clear extreme close up and they will only get better as they land the probe on it. The impactor probe view from 2010 was ugly but a close up too and there is also the shots in 2005 of Hartley 2 by EPOXI they were grainy but still close…
Not the first close ups of a comet ever. It is a really nice clear shot though. Here is a closeup of Comet Hartley 2 by the NASA Deep Impact spacecraft in 2010.
It's a pretty good trick for an DSLR as well.
Maybe we are not seeing the split in the foils because it's only a ground model? Any split in the foils will be cgi later anyway. If it don't make an X though you shouldn't call it an X-Wing and you would hope these guys know that.
I've been to Cornwall a few times and had not heard about this one. Pirates used to steal ships and break them up on the beaches there. So I know there are some interesting finds to be had there. I now have a new stop to make when I go back again
I don't know about the high five, but he was fast enough to decapitate the guy and he wouldn't have even known he was there
Yup second and third stage used the LH2 (liquid Hydrogen) and LOX (Liquid Oxygen) and had the water vapor exhaust. 1st stage was a real beast. Believe there is a private space company that acquired all the remaining F-1 motors and is planning to use them in their rockets.
