I had a similar thing in college. I didn't drink until I was 21, but when I turned 21, I was having a really rough time. For the folks I was less close to, I just kept turning down drinks with a smile, which I was used to doing by my junior year. For the people I was closer to, I left it at "I don't like drinking when

I did a similar thing a year ago, and it's miserable. My friends and family are on the coasts, and I'm in a tiny, tiny town in the middle of nowhere near the Rocky Mountains. Oh man, I love Octavia Butler! I feel like Kindred was great because it spelled out so much history that just doesn't get covered in school, but for sheer wonderment of work, I really like the Parable of the Sower and the Parable of the Talents. Both are available used on Amazon for next to nothing, but they're a
