I don't understand what you mean. The new cable is going to have the 19 pin on one end and USB on the other just like it always has. There will be no difference in compatibility.

Usb won't work. There are about a thousand articles written on the pinouts that are in the 30 pin connector. The whole reason it still exists and the new one will still exist is so third party accessories can be created that can operate without the use of drivers.

There are plenty of reasons USB doesn't work, 30 pins vs 4 is a good place to start.

The deal is most of those pins in teh 30 pin connector are for firewire which isn't really relevant to the connector anymore.

One the retina mbp you can fit Final Cut's entire UI and chrome on the screen and still edit 1080p video at it's NATIVE size on the screen.
