I really dont get whats so hard with calling people what they want to be called.
I really dont get whats so hard with calling people what they want to be called.
It’s quite telling that in a webpage that updates the names of characters who change their names (like Finn, or Rey Skywalker), ships that change their names (like the Millennium Falcon), movies that change their names (like Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope) and even real people who changed their surname when they got…
Fan ownership is a good thing when it invites us to participate fully in celebrating something we love. But it goes too far when it turns into gatekeeping or otherwise preventing some people from fully participating in the celebration - like preventing someone from associating their work with their chosen name.
This series is the best thing on this site now, and I really look forward to each instalment. Even with the ensuing embarrassment that comes with once thinking these books were so much better than they actually are – although in my defence I never cared for anything Ed Greenwood ever wrote, prose-wise. As deeply…
I’m not, and not just because I have A LOT more to catch up on. It’s a sci-fi show on FOX, and years of watching those (get canceled after 2 seasons) taught me to not get attached. FRINGE was the outlier.
I read all these books back in middle school and high school. I fondly remember Darkwalker on Moonshae, Azure Bonds and Crystal Shard. Weirdly, Spellfire I have no memory of at all. No plot points, characters, or scenes. I vaguely remembered the protagonist was a girl and it included FR Gandalf (Elminster). Even…
I am about 50% convinced that you made up that whole book while drunk/stoned just so you could write this review.
I enjoyed this movie then and still enjoy it now. It’s big dumb fun and what else can you really ask for. Also I am 99% sure I saw this in theaters opening weekend. Man, now I want a 4K release.
I saw Reign of Fire FOUR times theatrically, have seen it multiple dozens of times since, and it’s probably still my favorite film of both Bale and McConaughey. The dragon designs are phenomenal, but the work The Secret Lab did on the CGI was some next-level shit and hold up remarkably to this day. Great, great, great…
EVERYONE, is more of a Dragonlance kid :-) Forgotten Realms novels paled in popularity; rather, their popularity stemmed from it being chosen as the preferred campaign setting for TSR/WOTC. Not as many players wanted to role-play on Krynn/Ansalon, unless you were playing as Raistlin or Tanis ;-)
I’m pretty much the same. Back then I read just about every one of the Dragonlance books. The only Forgotten Realms I read was Pool of Radiance, which I actually liked a lot, but it was self-contained at the time so there was no need to go further.
I was more of a Dragonlance kid, even though FR seems like it was the more popular series. I just happened to start with DL and didn’t want to juggle two very similar yet entirely separate fantasy worlds.
Two things really sum this movie up for me. 1. There is a scene where Alex is bringing Scott in to meet the Prof. He bumps into Jean, a very powerful telepath with working eyeballs. Scott has a bandage over his eyes when they collide and Jean says “hey, look where you’re going”.. He can’t see, but you can. Why would…
Hosted them at my home when they were on the US tour two years ago. Amazingly talented folks. If you are into medieval things, check out their Medieval Classic Rock album with covers on AC/DC, Pink Floyd, RHCP, Metallica, Deep Purple, Beatles, Black Sabbath and Nirvana.
I fucking love it. I got your back.
IMO the biggest problem of Spider-Man 3 (or at least the source of its biggest problems) was that it was overstuffed - it had too much going on and so wasn’t able to properly address all of them. The film would have been better if spread across two films.
Maybe banthas have ineffective digestive systems. On first pass, they don’t digest all the nutrients available in their food. Coprophagia and rumination are real things in real-world animals, and it’s possible banthas need to do it too, but never evolved the rumen and supporting systems.
Still one of the best things they’ve ever made on the show.
Same. Gary the Stormtrooper comes in second place.
Out of curiosity, would Captain Shakespeare be considered a pirate?
