I believe the first (non rangefinder) mirror-less digital camera was a Panasonic micro fourthirds camera, not the NEX.

They probably enjoyed the pain.
I loved the music in utopia! It was great!
I'm especially glad the show is back on form given how godawful the previous week's episode, "reasonable doubt" was.
I assume by battleship you mean surface combat ships in general (Battleships being a class of ships with several huge cannons not produced since WWII and now obsolete)
It's true the carrier air wing does a lot but carriers are a huge target and needs several destroyers and cruisers to protect it. They perform duties…
The only thing that bothers me (slightly) when watching it today is not the effects per se but the very pronounced drop in resolution from regular scenes to CGI fx scenes. Not a huge deal but kinda noticeable on DVD. Especially on ones that combine live action with CGI (like the window in the command centre).
Never judge a book by its... fuck it, I'm out.
My first thought as well.
As someone with a few Leica M-mount lenses (leica, ziess and voigtlander) lying around I'm quite interested. That said I'm not very optimistic that M lenses will work well on the sensor given that you need special microlenses to optimise the corners for anything wider than 50mm. You never know though... guess we need…
Prisoner Zero has escaped
Reading through the Culture novels chronologically myself, just finished Use of Weapons so I haven't read Matter or Hydrogen Sonata. But I found the early sections of The Player of Games fascinating for its up close depiction of everyday life in the heart of the post-scarcity Culture society (more so than Consider…
That's weird coming from the guy who created Knoll Light Factory, a tool for creating lens flare :P
The design of the Yahoo app initially impressed me. But it's flaw is user submitted photos... maybe its the city I live in but it keeps pulling disgusting over-processed HDR photos that I simply cannot stand underneath the rest of the beautiful design :(
One of the best character intros ever.
Actually you just reminded me, I suppose those fibre optic triggers, such as those made by Ikelite, that pick up the built in flash would work with this. No idea how well they work as I've never tried one of those.
Too bad it's only waterproof to 15m though. The old Nikonos models ranged from 50m to 100m. 15m is impressive for a rugged camera but I think at least 30m is needed for a proper diving camera. Oh and support for external strobes.
Switched to an HTC One from an iPhone recently, I've been pretty disappointed with all the calendar offerings. Supposedly the android version of Cal (from the makers of Any.do is on they way).
I was just going to post this anecdote!
Not my favourite episode by a long shot but that scene was as you say, fantastic!
I saw a bit of TNG when I was young, probably some bad ones, and assumed Star Trek was just trash, I completely re-evaluated my views on Trek much later after seeing The Measure of a Man although this one ranks highly as well.
