Very true. I think for the "over the top" aspect, Kurosawa liked his actors to emote a bit more somewhat in the style of the silent movies especially in his 50s era movies.

Perhaps we can now finally have a game where we can watch paint dry. A hyper realistic depiction of wet glistening paint slowly turning into a matte wall.

At least Leica only does it with point and shoots in the sub $1000 category. Regardless of how you feel about their value for money, the X1/X2 and especially the M series are unique cameras built by Leica...

Actually Hasselblad has never built lenses. In the past their optics were provided by Zeiss (and branded as such). After they moved to the H system, their lenses were branded Hasselblad but were actually designed and built by Fuji.
