I'm guessing they chose the camera for its vastly improved dynamic range rather than resolution. The show has a lot of CGI and that is all probably still going to be rendered in 1080p and thus the final masters. They've been using 1080p Arri Alexas until now.

Unfortunately if you want to go authentic, HAL was built using a Nikkor 8mm f/2.8. They tend to go for around $2000-3000 on ebay.

The mounting brackets seem adjustable and the connection is wireless so most likely you can use it with a case.

I like the concept but these models feel awkward and not entirely pocketable even when separated (especially the QX100).

I'm guessing the game will have certain gameplay areas, or zones if you will, of danger.

You sir, have made my week!

Very true. I think for the "over the top" aspect, Kurosawa liked his actors to emote a bit more somewhat in the style of the silent movies especially in his 50s era movies.

Perhaps we can now finally have a game where we can watch paint dry. A hyper realistic depiction of wet glistening paint slowly turning into a matte wall.

Hah! I just finished rewatching this for the umpteenth time literally 10 minutes ago! There are many movies that can inspire emotions from sadness, to anger, to nostalgia, to excitement, to wonder...etc But this is the the only movie I've seen that just fills me with a unbridled sense of Awe. Nothing else quite like

Check out Robot Chicken season 6 episode 7. Pretty much exactly that happens.

I've only seen the first rebuild so far (planning to watch the 2nd this week). It seems to me given the red sea and that silhouette amongst the ruins, that its set in the same continuity anyway isnt it? Or a soft reboot like ala Battlestar "all of this has happened before..etc".

At least Leica only does it with point and shoots in the sub $1000 category. Regardless of how you feel about their value for money, the X1/X2 and especially the M series are unique cameras built by Leica...

Actually Hasselblad has never built lenses. In the past their optics were provided by Zeiss (and branded as such). After they moved to the H system, their lenses were branded Hasselblad but were actually designed and built by Fuji.
