She was taken from her family of origin, deprived of relationships to her actual family. Sure, her bio father is a scumbag and her mom was a teen mom, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t suffered a loss.

Serious question, though: can we “rehabilitate” someone who has taken a life, and will never live outside of prison? She can’t do anything to repay her debt to her victim or his family, and she’ll never be productive or useful to society.

In all fairness, though, it sounds like they couldn’t guarantee the safety of the other women in the prison with a convicted rapist in their midst.

I’m not opposed to the death penalty because I keep finding exceptions. These people, for instance.
