I think there's (surprisingly!) a great deal more nuance to the issue than your two-sentence comment. But you are correct that math is not the end-all of disciplines. Unless the subject area in question involves things like statistics, in which case math is pretty much gonna be your end-all.

Just as a counterpoint, there's a guy in one of my classes who prefaces all of his (frequent) comments with "This is probably just me being stupid, but..." and then proceeds to actually be stupid.

Just from a character standpoint, a guy who wears a traditional costume with a mismatched accent is far more interesting than a simple stereotype. I rather like the effect.
