I would think that would would be quickly treated and gauzed before this system is used, Army Medics are usually trained with quick fixes, deep cuts are not problem with superglue...etc.

The point I was making is that the last thing you want to do is take chances out in space, where mistakes will have consequences 10 fold, so lowering those odds with tools that may seem overkill at the time may be safer in the long run.
