It’s hard to slam shut an open mind.  Liberalism is generally about being open to differences, empathy for the less fortunate and considering viewpoints from different perspectives; this tends to mean that people with a strong leaning towards liberalism are unlikely to jump the other way.

Evangelion is, I think, a difficult anime to like in the sense of enjoyment. I said this on another thread, but while I think Evangelion is vastly important and influential...it’s also not an anime I really have any desire to watch again.

As a nerd who is ashamed to know this, I would point out that the age difference between Padme and Anakin in the Phantom Menace isn’t that big. Anakin is 9 and Padme is 14.
