I played second edition quite heavily, tyvm. Unless you count Space Wolves (for power axes) or crimson fists (for power fists), the majority of official depictions of Space Marine captains had power swords. Obv, the player could select whatever they liked.

They locked perhaps the most-used space marine officer weapon behind another game, and then do not release said game on the same platforms as Space Marine. Yay.

The dedicated melee terms in the Space Hulk tabletop games were no slouches. In the most recent offering, One of the sergeants has a thunder hammer / storm shield, and he is an absolute bitch to fight as the genestealer player.

While we're on the subject of old 40k games, I would just like to profess my love for Chaos Gate here.

There's an older Wh40k game called Chaos Gate (PC), from around '98 I believe. While it does not use the exact rules of the tabletop game, it IS a turn-based strategy game and it was actually very good. Arguably better at providing a tabletop experience than DoW and its RTS-ness.

The X-Com demo was amazing. It took me a good year between getting the demo and getting the game (I was like 13) and I played the hell out of the demo while waiting.

I hate when people take the "turn-based games are old fashioned" stance. It becomes even more comical when one of the references to make you think new/fresh/exciting (Tekken, in this case) has been around longer than the oldschool reference (Baldur's Gate).

DA2 wasn't really set up to rely on standard attacks. It was all about skill-spamming.

It looked more like the Vanguard was the tanking spec to me, with the force field thing and close range abilities. The Commando looks more like a single target ranged dps.

In DA:O or DA:2? In DA2 I finished large groups of enemies in one whirlwind by the end.

The Witcher 2 is not an open world game like Fallout 3. After a fairly on-rails prologue, each of the chapters mainly consists of a decent size town and wilderness area. Big enough to explore a bit, small enough that you shouldn't feel lost.

@galm666: "The combat system is good, it's very much like DA:Os."

Bow + dual wield shortswords + climbing all over large monsters is pretty much the movie depiction of Legolas, and nothing like MH's "bows".

Monster Hunter: Play as Legolas

The storytelling in The Witcher 2 really is well done. Meaningful choices with tangible consequences, no black/white morality and a really well-defined cast that actually acts human. Can't wait for the next game CDPR makes.

Ah, thanks!

Since the drain has a lip on it and the water flow seems to be pathetic, does that mean that there will always be a little puddle of pee like the thumbnail shows? Novelty or no, that's disgusting.

The idea that PC gaming requires constant replacement of parts is a myth. I've got a PC that's four years old that can still play everything released, no problem. The fact that most AAA games are built with consoles in mind these days means that even if a PC version of a game does have better graphics, it will still

The fanboys who have a favorite system and defend it to the death are all annoying, it's not just a PC issue.
