You pretty much missed the bulk of my annoyance, in that there are some very faddish trends in these things. It's like 95% of the marketing firms don't have a thesaurus and only use new words when they see ones they like in other press releases / interviews.
I hate industry buzzwords, and don't understand why we have them. Do marketing people really think that hearing paradigm for the 20th time gets me excited?
The possibility for that is high. The animation system in Bethesda's previous games was made in-house, but they announced that they have thrown that out in favor of some middleware by Havok.
@badoor: The writers over there are pretty amazing, but it's not always comedy like that. They DO try to make every headline a pun, though.

There ARE console games that get released at slightly budget prices, even if they're not the most common things in the world. Some of them are even damn good too, like EDF and 3d Dot Game Heroes.
