I would be very surprised if the playstation camera does not support IR as even the playstation eye was capable of such things. I have seen multi touch tables built by removing the IR filter on webcams. The kinect is essentially just the back of a 3D, not that there is anything wrong with that.

you understand that the majority of that is software, not hardware based, no? Heck, the Wii U can run this. The PS4 has a 3D camera as well. With the right software, a high end 3D camera is a high end 3D camera. End of story.
