“Reversing on promises” isn’t something you can legislate. Triggering a special election if an elected official switches parties would be something you could.

I’m talking about what you would do to formalize a process to penalize a rep who switches parties. If switching parties triggered a special election you may see fewer people do it.

You would need to specifically pass laws that would rectify the situation. But what would that look like? What's the recourse? Do you allow her district to petition for a recall/special election?
