Makes sense. And talking to an aerospace friend, parachute landings are inherently unpredictable, and these systems allow for precise landing locations. Everything is reusable, and apparently water can be really damaging to the engines, so a soft touchdown on a landing pad is far preferable.

Not that soft landings aren't awesome, but does Space X have something against parachutes?

The only problem with this (and I'm a developer with 4 monitors in front of me all day), is that most monitors are made to have good viewing angles when oriented horizontally. Put them vertical, and your viewing angle becomes pretty small. Great way to get many lines of code on screen all at once, though.
