Literally DOZENS and DOZENS of people!
Literally DOZENS and DOZENS of people!
I think we can officially say the USA cares about soccer now
If you watched 90 minutes of soccer in a crowd like this, you are fucking retarded.
So what are we talking about? Washington Corvettes? Washington Smirnoffs? Washington Marlboro Men?
last pay check was $9500 working 12 hours a week online. My neighbour's sister has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out.
Whatever ban Suarez gets, they should add another game to it for the shameless flop he made right after biting Chiellini.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the WC but have to agree with the hockey fans with respect to the flagrant diving and fake injuries. Right after Suarez bites Mssr. Tortellini (Lasagna??) he grabs his face and throws himself on the pitch. How do you respect that crap as "part of the game?" Presumably, the players are hoping…
At times like this I wish that soccer had hockey style enforcers. It would be great to watch someone beat the ever living shit out of Suarez.
Ah! The nerve of him! Such a sickening display! I am sick to my stomach over this! What is wrong with people?
This is why Americans shouldn't follow soccer.
Anybody else think Levine is a massive fag?
It's actually the cost of the game here that's killed it. Most kids can't afford to play it at a high level because unlike every other country in the world, it's turned into a "rich, white, suburban" sport.
Baseball has grown significantly in the last 15 years as well. Sports consumption in general has increased as well, so baseball only *seems* to be losing popularity. The reality is that attendance and TV viewership are way up league-wide.
I don't think there's anyway soccer's a "top three sport" in just 8 years. We've been hearing, really since the '70's, that soccer's going to suddenly explode on the scene. That prediction's never made sense. Americans aren't going to suddenly start caring en masse about a sport when the best professional leagues…
So did sports bars and viewing parties not exist in 1999? I'm sure lots of people watching Mia Hamm and Co. win it all in 1999 at their local sports bar as well...
You have Soccer blasting past Hockey and Baseball? That ain't going to happen by 2022. The World Cup might beat...say, The Winter Olympics or The Tour D'France, but "Soccer" is not going to be a top 3 sport in the US until another generation's worth of immigration changes our demographics on a more fundamental level.…
I have no agenda, just find it interesting that we have been hearing about the same "tipping point" every four years since the US hosted in 1994 and quite frankly, it hasn't happened. The MLS is growing, but attendance, ticket prices, player salaries, and TV ratings not at the major sports level and for the women (who…
Football, baseball, soccer
If you compare ESPN - ESPN, this match beat the previous high (US women's 1999 finals match) by only a few hundred thousand viewers. Sure that is growth, but it isn't earth shattering or mind numbing. To me, the more telling fact is that Univision had a pretty sizable audience. My guess is that the growth of soccer…
I guess you could also say that women's gymnastics and figure skating have gained a foothoold with the public. I mean once every four years they get huge ratings.
