I'm disappointed Deadspin hasn't acknowledged the creepiness of Putin and his little figure skater:
"See!! Other people copy themselves all the time!"
She's 21.
Well did she win?
That's what snowbanks are for — to catch your truck when you're ghost-riding the whip/assaulting a pedestrian.
OR there will be a fuss, he'll play some football — if he's really good, people will stop asking questions. If he's bad, interest will peter out and he'll take his baggage to the USFL and everyone will forget.
I think that was the original idea of outlets - the seconds, mis-stitches and returned stuff (crap that's been monogrammed, etc). Now, in a lot of cases it's actually a different line of clothing, for example, Brooks Brothers sells a line called Brooks Brothers 876 or something which is different and cheaper than what…
Also: agreed, that's why we are taking you to task over your speech. Freedom of speech doesnt mean consequence-free speech.
I'd say inventing outrage over steroids is amoral, and Deadspin's muddled attempts have certainly been a shitshow.
Or don't watch them and you'll probably be just fine.
Better question - does anyone LIKE the games this year? What a shitshow, I don't know a single person who has expressed excitement. Fuck, because of terror concerns athlete's own families aren't going!
Yeah, but I bet the toilets at the Nagano games flushed toilet paper.
You don't. You just chop it.
No, no, they'll say "Guys, you can only be offended by being called a jungle bunny if you want to. I don't find it offensive, so you shouldn't either!"
good one
Deadspin would do it, but, let's be honest, the people who want to keep the name really don't care what actual natives and Indians call themselves or want to be called. They just don't want their Albert Haynseworth jersey to look outdated if the team gets a new mascot/logo.
Russia isn't trying to present the image "We're pretty good for a country in this part of the world!" They're trying to present the image "We're super classy, just like you Western Europe and America!"
You know, that's the thing that really gets me about all of this — the story of the American Indian for the last 400+ years has been to be minimized and ignored, and here we are doing it again.
Yeah, we can really debate this endlessly — for every apologist or person who tries to explain why it's cool to use the slur, I can find you an actual native person or Indian who will tell you how the word has been used so hurtfully towards him and his people for so long.
